Tufail Ahmad College Scholarships

MCMF Scholarship Awards Program's mission is to provide financial assistance for college or vocational training programs to graduating high school seniors who are facing financial difficulties and live in the State of Maryland. Our goal to help our recipients achieve a better future, to rise above their challenging circumstances. MCMF awards each applicant $1000. The application is due midnight by May 30, 2024.

This scholarship is sponsored by MCMF, a non-profit focused on serving the needs of Montgomery County. It is intended as a Sadaqa Jarii'aa and help for those requiring assistance today and will in turn help contribute and support others in the future once able to do so.

We take the Application process very seriously, and we look forward to reviewing and getting to know each applicant. We want the process to be an straightforward and enjoyable experience for the applicants as well, so we encourage you to reach out and ask questions. Here are some guidelines to follow.

Who May Apply:

  • Must be a graduating high school student with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Student must be a resident of the State of Maryland.
  • Students whose families fall within the Low-income thresholds.
  • Applicant family income must not exceed household income caps noted on the Application Form.
  • Must have filed a FAFSA.
  • “Dreamers” who are not eligible for financial aid due to their immigration status
  1. Have attended a high school for past three years starting 2018 school years or later.
  2. Registered at a two-year or four-year Maryland College.

How To Apply:
The 2024 Application Form is now available.

  • Please ensure that you have all the materials listed on the Application Form's Checklist with you when you complete the Application Form.
  • Follow the instructions carefully and thoroughly.
  • The Application process requires two references (NOT a relative) in addition to the application
  1. One of the references should be academic, preferably from a teacher or instructor. If you are not currently in enrolled in a school, then from a caseworker/counselor, employer or another person who knows you well. 
  2. The second reference should be from someone who knows of your public and/or community service involvement. 
  • Only two references are required for the application.
  • The reference form is a link on the Application Form. You will need to email the link to the references so that they can complete the form online. The MCMF Scholarship Program will use the information provided to verify the authenticity of references received on your behalf. Be sure to follow up with each of your references to ensure that they submit the form by the deadline.
  • The completed online Application Package which includes your references, and all other supporting documentation is due at midnight May 30, 2024
  • Late submissions will not be considered.

Online Application Form:

  • This is an online Application Form which MUST be submitted online.  You will see forms for the two required references; follow up with your references and check to be sure that they have submitted their online forms by the due date.
  • For free assistance in completing this online Application Form, contact MCMF Scholarship Awards Program at mcmfscholarship@mcmfmd.org. Applications will be reviewed by a Scholarship committee and interviews for fianlists will be conducts and will be notified by June 10, 2024.
  • Applicants who meet eligibility requirements and submit a fully completed Application Package will be invited as finalists to be interviewed at a notified date and time.
  • Finalists are required to be available on the interview day for a virtual interview.  
  • Following the interviews, finalists will be informed within a week whether they were selected to receive an MCMF Scholarship Award.
  • Awardees will be provided instructions that explain the process by which their Award funds will be made available to their college or training program for tuition or books.
