Awards & Recognition

MCMF has made great progress in fulfilling its mission to help create a hunger-free and hate-free environment in which people of different faiths, ethnicity and background can live in peace and harmony. The major contribution to MCMF’s welfare mission has been made by countless volunteers and donors. In addition, members of the Board and the Executive Council have rendered voluntary work of hundreds of hours every year and donated financial resources handsomely. In 2021 MCMF received the Volunteer Group of the year Award by Montgomery Serves.

The Chief Executives of Montgomery County and the state of Maryland, as well as other faith-based organizations, have in particular noticed the tireless work done by late Mr. Tufail Ahmad, the Founder of MCMF and former Chair of MCMF, and in recognition of his selfless work for humanity awarded him several prestigious awards and certificates of appreciation. Some of the awards and certificates given to him are listed below:

  • 2018 - Human Rights Hall of Fame Award
  • 2018 - Roscoe R. Nix Distinguished Community Leadership Award by County Executive
  • 2012 - Neal Potter Path of Achievement Award by County Executive
  • 2008 - Islamic Center of Maryland Leadership Award
  • 2008 - Marriott Spirit to Serve  Award
  • 2001 - 2002 - Wizards Polin Award for Outstanding Dedication to the Community 

In addition, Mona Ngem former Board Member of MCMF, received the Neal Potter Path of Achievement Award by the County Executive. and Mr.Abdulhai Sheikh and Saba Rashid received the prestigious Governors Award for their services to the community.
